Bookstore anyone? Mais oui, merci.

DIGITAL CAMERA I love books and I love bookstores. For as long as I can remember a trip to the bookstore has always been a real treat. I am also French and as a people I believe we cherish our special relationship with the printed word.

Recently, The New York Times published a very interesting article about the strong health of French bookstores as compared with their English and American counterparts.  (You may read the entire article, by clicking the link: ).  Yes, bookstores are thriving in France in part because of government subsidies and price controls. But at the core, bookstores flourish in France because people enjoy and value the service they provide.

This gave me the idea of trying to showcase bookstores from around France (and the world). So there we go, step 1 in our journey (and where it all started for me):

1. Librairie Ancienne Lacoste – Chinon, France
